Family Relief Program for Physically Handicapped Children
This program provides short-term relief in the child's own home. The child must be 0 to 18 years of age and have a physical disability (i.e. Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Muscular Dystrophy, etc.).
The family is provided with the funding to hire their own worker that will provide the respite.
An average annual allotment of hours would be (i.e. 200 hours with the average hourly rate of $7.00 an hour).
Benefits to the Individual and Family
The family is provided with short-term respite which enables them to have personal quality time while knowing their child is well cared for. The program also permits them to spend time with their other children, family members, etc. It also provides them with an opportunity to rest and relax.
Families can utilize the respite hours to meet their needs (i.e. weekends, summer, evenings).
