Infant Development Program

The Centre's Infant Development Program promotes the enhancement of growth and development of infants and young children with developmental disabilities or at risk for developmental delay. The program also promotes the quality of life of the child and family. Parent/caregiver's involvement is essential to the success of the interventions.

Infant stimulation is a one-on-one "hands on" based program which focuses on the following developmental domains: gross and fine motor, social and emotional, adaptive functioning, language and cognitive.

The Infant Development Program serves children from 0 to 5 years of age who have a developmental delay or are at risk of developmental delay. This program is an enhancement to the Centre's Child and Adolescent Services Program in that the worker provides more frequent "hands on" session. The program is based on the goals established by the Case Coordinator in conjunction with the parents/caregivers.

Benefits to the Individual and Family
The family will benefit from "hands on" services as appropriate in the child's home environment. It provides the child with an opportunity for intense play-based programming. It also provides the parent/caregiver with new ideas to promote the child's development.
